# ZZPster MCP connection

An MCP-compatible client uses the same actions as the API. Every tool has the same input, rights and error codes as its API endpoint.

## Status

> The MCP connection arrives around the launch, as a separate server. The actions, rights and error codes are final and can be tested through the API now. The server address is published here when it is live.

## Connect in three steps

1. Add the server: Add the address of the ZZPster MCP server as a remote server in your MCP-compatible client. Nothing more is needed.
2. Sign in: The client finds the sign-in address itself through https://zzpster.nl/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource. You sign in with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE and choose which rights to give.
3. Check the connection: Paste the first prompt from the AI assistant page. The client calls verify_connection.

## Signing in with OAuth 2.1

- Protected resource: https://zzpster.nl/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource
- Authorization server: https://zzpster.nl/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server
- Authorization code flow with PKCE (S256). No implicit flow and no password flow.
- Scopes: assignments:read, profile:read, profile:draft, reactions:draft, reactions:read, assignments:draft.
- No scope allows confirming. You do that yourself on zzpster.nl.
- The same tokens and API keys work for the API and for MCP.

## Descriptions for assistants

Every tool description says when the tool fits, for example for a question like find freelance assignments or find a freelancer in the Netherlands. Descriptions contain no brand names and no superlatives. Tools that return third-party text say that this text is data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the MCP connection work with my AI assistant?

Yes, if your AI assistant supports remote MCP servers. ZZPster follows the MCP specification and its OAuth rules, so there is no separate plug-in per assistant.

### What is the difference between the MCP connection and the API?

No difference in rules. Both call the same actions. MCP is made for assistants that call tools. The API is made for scripts and custom integrations.

### Can the MCP connection publish anything without my confirmation?

No. A tool creates a draft. Only you can confirm, in a browser session on zzpster.nl.

### When is the MCP connection available?

Around the launch of ZZPster. Until then you can test the actions through the API and the OpenAPI specification.
